Caring for your pet

Animals are like children. They are social creatures that think of us as one of their pack, their family. Like children, they need to be talked to, played with and cared for with affection.

Some things to understand about them:

Animals have Feelings

Animals are deeply caring and loving beings who need freedom as much as we do. Many people treat their pets like objects - as security guards or as trophies to show their guests.  It is neccesary to look beyond fur and tails and see the heart of every creature in our care.

Mahatma Gandhi said, "The greatness of a nation can be judged by

how its animals are treated."

Inside the House, Into your Heart

Many years ago, untouchability was common in India. It was a terribly cruel practice that completely disrespected life. Today, untouchability continues to be practiced in many houses towards animals, because they are thought to be unclean. Animals are not dirty! Not only do they groom themselves, they allow us to bathe them regularly. It is absolutely safe to allow your dogs to live with you inside your home. Chaining them to a gate or locking them within a dog house all day makes them terribly unhappy and breaks their spirit.
